Surely one of the hardest things to do is to sit down with someone for long periods of time and not say anything. No irrepressible urges to fill the silence. No uncomfortable fidgeting. None of that shifting about in seats, hair-eating, nail polish-picking, sheep-counting nonsense. Just unadulterated silence.
Not many people do it for me, to be honest.
I was looking at this photograph today. Brought back some great memories and made me wonder why I took this picture by myself. One thing I miss about having a significant other is to be able to bask in that beautiful quiet. The same kind of silence with close friends is somewhat different albeit just as wonderful. Me, I just hate small talk.
