We’ll get there fast / And then we’ll take it slow

I’m looking forward to Summer so much that I’ve started pulling out my Summer clothes out of storage.. not that I have much space left for anything in the built-ins in my tiny apartment! I really wish I had a walk-in, or a bigger apartment, whichever comes first :P

I’m not much of a trend person and most times what I end up wearing is usually based around the first agreeable thing I pull out of the closet in the morning. 8 out of ten days I favour jeans and tank tops, and 4 out of those 8 days my tank tops will probably be white. I have a fair amount of jeans (maybe 25 pairs now) and a lot of white tanks (last count, 8) and then I will pick a random jacket or something to throw on top since it’s not hot and humid here all the time, and that pretty much sums up my 10 minutes in the morning. Some days I will rummage through my accessories and put on a bangle or two (I love bangles) but they annoy me at work when I’m using the mouse most of the day so I don’t bother much.

However, when Summer is around I leave my jeans at home and go a little crazy – how great is it to be able to put on dresses and shorts and not worry about freezing to death? I will still wear jeans to work, and I am seriously so glad to be in an industry where jeans make up my regular work wear, and my legs haven’t seen the inside of a pinstripe skirt in like, ever.

I find the easiest way to update any wardrobe is to pick one or two key elements of any given season, and pair them up with your basics. Any seasonal jacket will go with a white tank and jeans. Problem is, I love Brit fashion more than anything and being in Sydney puts me on the other side of seasonal trends, six months behind/in front whichever way you want to look at it, it basically means biker jackets are so six months ago and they’ve only just begun to hit the shelves here.. On the bright side, it puts me in the right season when it comes to sales.. the rest of the world are now offloading SS stock and going into AW, and we’re heading into SS.. yipee :)

This Spring transition I’ve picked up a jersey boyfriend blazer from TopShop and am dying to get a leather biker jacket. But scrap that.. I haven’t found anything remotely affordable and I hate PVC. Instead, I’m pulling out my studded accessories and bangles and giving my motorcycle bag circa 2004 a good workout.. and trying to resist buying another handbag! I have a serious leather fetish.

Speaking of studs, how cute is this Rain on my Window studded top by Sass & Bide?!

Off to unpack some more. It feels good to put all my heavy winter coats away.. not that it gets that cold here anyway.

Some of my fav online shopping sites:
Asos
ShopBop
TopShop
Miss Selfridge
The Outnet
.. and of course eBay :)

Yup – picked up a pair of Loubs a few months ago, not bad.. except the pounds throw you off a little.. tho there is an option to display in dollars..
