I love that my friends here love food as much as I do. And we all love to cook. Right now I’m talking to one of them about apartment kitchen sizes on rental listings; and how I want to convert my living space to a kitchen – totally outrageous!
It’s been fucking cold lately. I know I’m soft though, I grew up in a place where cold meant it’s 20c in the pre-dawn hours when I’d be driving home from some party with the windows down having a smoke. It was a lot colder in NZ when I was living there but I didn’t stick around long enough to get used to NZ Winters. And up until the end of last week I thought I’ve been doing pretty well lounging at home in shorts, three weeks into the season. Bah.
Things I like about Winter:
1. My Winter jackets
(I have to admit, It IS fun to flounce around in wool and angora.. no matter who tells you otherwise)
2. Winter food
Stews, bakes, pies – any excuse to crank on the stove/oven and get some heat on. And when friends decide to cook, staying in and having some wine is the best fun ever:
Jo made dinner and Ray made this amazing chocolate orange cake with cola icing for dessert <3
And then we had some dessert wine
Can’t think of any other reasons I like Winter – over it already!
