Have had so much of Miss Chu lately I may be turning Vietnamese. And I still can’t get enough – but trying not to overindulge my obsession otherwise I will be sick of it by next week. I may or may not have worked my way through 80% of the menu by now and wish I had some pictures of the food to share with you. Instead, here are Miss Chu’s electric delivery bikes:

There is also another reason for the mountain of tuna sashimi salads and peking duck pancakes I’ve been eating – I’ve decided that for three weeks I’m reducing my carb intake to minimal – meaning no rice, bread or pasta which, before I decided to do this, happen to make up 99% of my meals. It’s a lot harder than I thought. I don’t really like fresh greens. I don’t know what to eat for breakfast anymore (I normally do a bowl of Weetbix or raisin toast). I’m about a week into it and craving for homemade pork belly stew on a mountain of fluffy white rice have increased about a thousandfold over the week.. it’s just not the same without the rice to soak up that delicious gravy. I wonder how I’m going to survive the weekend. In about ten minutes I’m headed to the airport!
Have a wonderful weekend guys! x

I was reading this article last night on how the advent of 3D printing technology has opened many doors for small studios and indie designers. No longer are they limited by production costs and minimum quantity orders.. with something like this so much is possible! I’m still totally fascinated by 3D printing and came across these amazing applications of the technology by a company called .MGX I had to share. These designs are generated from a computer file, which is then manufactured using rapid prototyping technology. This 3D material printing process using a range of thermoplastics allows for freedom of design far beyond the capacity of traditional manufacturing technologies.

Saw these pix from Signe’s blog this morning and fell in love with Stockholm-based label The Local Firm with its updated urban silhouettes and dominant use of greys – perfect for Fall, except it’s going to be Spring in Sydney soon!

Love the spiky braids. LOVE. I wish I had longer hair just so I can wear it like this. If I was a video game character, I would have long spiky braids that double as chain whips. They also remind me of these guys:
Spiky braids = Bowser x Stegosaurus
I love Bowser!
Someone once told me the only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it. Can I just say how bloody hard that is when there is a tin of Valhorna dark chocolate-coated orange peel sitting in front of you for all of six hours? Torturous! Yes, I’m amazed it lasted that long.
Right now I feel really drained. Physically exhausted from dealing with a busted ankle at the same time mentally exhausted from working extra hard. Deadlines are finally over and all I did was eat takeaway and catch up on True Blood episodes I’ve been saving for nights like these. Nothing a good night’s sleep and coffee in the mornings can’t take care of!
Guess what I’ll be doing this weekend? Terribly in need of some R&R:

Today, YM told me about the new ‘him’. His discovery that a beautiful society can be ugly has led him to abandon pursuit of a material existence for a spiritual one instead. It was an interesting thing to witness: both our lives have been dedicated to pursuit of pleasure and self-gratification. Somehow we’ve survived our 20s unscathed, driven by the awareness that no matter what we want to do, life has a funny way of reminding us that nothing worthwhile in life is procured without effort.. and that only made it so much more fun. But life has a funny way of also never being the same. We change, and some times in the winds of change do we only find our true direction. I do believe that at some stage in our lives we will literally ‘grow up’ – and by that I mean the realisation that all we ever wanted may not be all we ever wanted when we have all we thought we want.
I think the search for fulfillment is most commonly waylaid by the need to fit in and be accepted by our peers. First, we need to love ourselves. Growing up an only child has not been easy. I’ve always hated being one. When i was younger I felt like I have a lot to prove to myself, until one day I realised that it wasn’t really myself I was trying to prove my worth to – it was everyone else. People often have these preconceptions of what an only child is like – and the more I hear about them the more I felt like I needed to go against the grain. But what I didn’t know then that I know now is that I’ve always been exactly what I have been trying to be, and what a waste of time it was not being able to see that. I love myself now, and what can be so wrong with a little self-love? And when you’re there, a good way to move forward would focus your time and energy in helping the people you love achieve the same things.. a little goes a long way there. Cheesy, I know – but when you live positively everyone around you benefits.
Am I the only one excited that the film adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love will be released soon? I loved the book.
And while we’re on topic, here’s one of my favourite models, Agyness Deyn, in V Magazine September 2010, channeling Hare Krishna:

She has this childlike quality that I totally dig!
