Quickie

Have been a bit too busy to blog lately, but here is a quick update:

• Work has been busy.
• W and I headed up to Nelson Bay on a weekend and though the weather could’ve been better, we had a nice time and managed to take a few pictures.. which I will post up soon. We stopped by Newcastle on the way back, my first time there!
• Us kids had another recent nasi lemak gathering, this time at Pyrmont park.
• Siti finally, finally made it to the good living markets with Ray and I after 2 years of procrastinating :)
• Just started watching Ugly Betty.
• Bought my first pair of gumboots!
• Djembe classes are almost done for the semester.
• Been playing Scrabble again. Well, Words with Friends actually. My user ID is Fazhira if anyone fancies a game.
• My poor cat is unwell :(

Absolutely Fuzzy

The week is off to a great start:

1 – Finally solved that Thesis code issue that has been annoying me for two weeks. By myself. After not getting answers in forums. And I feel a little invincible for it. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

2 – Web hosts have managed to solve hosting woes, thank fuck, I’d hate to have to move after nine years and I do love these guys.

Converse Chuck Taylors

3 – Two pairs of black Chuck Taylors headed my way – YM has dubbed these my ‘emo shoes’ after watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

4 – Moving offices from Eastern suburbs to inner city this week!

5 – One of my favourite people in the world is dropping in tomorrow, très excited!

Also, this awesome xkcd comic reminded YC of me for more reasons than she will understand:

xkcd: dreams

Ha. Thank you :)

In a blink

It’s been a week since my last post. I still haven’t gotten around to putting those pictures from Hunter Valley up; this week I’ve just been chasing deadlines and it has been a crazy couple of days because we’re putting out an E3 special report and the event was so close to deadline. Now that’s over I have some catching up to do..

This morning we had a late start at work. I’d like to think my day started like any other normal day, but it already feels like the weekend – it normally does post-deadline. Australia is out of the World Cup despite a 2-1 victory against Serbia and we have a new prime minister as of two hours ago. Ruski just recovered from a bout of kitty UTI, strangely enough mainly from dehydration because he spends too much time in front of the heater and doesn’t drink enough water (he’s also old) and I have a ton of things to do; some of which includes checking out new games, planning a dinner party and looking for a new rain shower. I know – nothing like it – I like to spoil myself some times!

In other news, seriously considering joining a Scrabble club!

Day off

Not much has been happening for me this week.

I’ve been out for the count after catching a cold on the weekend; a day off work yesterday really helped. In a panic (I really hate falling sick, then again who doesn’t?) I put together a cocktail of vitamins and supplements hoping to pad up the immune system and I think it helped some. This cold hasn’t been as bad as some colds I’ve had, thank God! I do think that all the new stuff I’ve introduced to my routine has made a difference – I take a combination of antioxidants, omega 3, garlic caps, probiotics and multivitamins though only when I remember to!

On my day off I walked out to get some lunch and ended up with a massive feast. The lemon meringues from this really awesome bakery near me are absolutely addictive! I bought myself a mini one as a treat, and on my way home picked up two pastry scrapers. One for baking and one for my bathroom project – did I tell you I’m regrouting it on my own? The insanity! I’m a quarter way through and haven’t got a grout float, hence the pastry scraper which is cheaper and does the job better I think! Would you believe I’ve been doing it by hand this whole time.. silly me.

Had a chat to a girlfriend on the weekend while feeling sorry for myself. As conversations normally go with my good friends back in KL, we talk about the past and the future, never really about the present. It’s nice reliving good times, though sometimes I think I do it too often. We are both beach crazy people, and there has been some talk about a trip later this year to catch up. Right now with Winter around the corner I am really looking forward to a solid week of hot, humid weather..

I wonder how Aussie islands compare to the ones back home – I should make an effort to find out :)

It’s dinnertime and one of the lights at home just blew. It feels sort of romantic, with one lone light left and the city outside my window. Pasties are baking in the oven and I’m waiting for the boy to come over to help fix my lights; in the meantime I’m spending some much needed quality time with my favourite kitty :)
