The next stop

20110526-052752.jpg

I’m on my way to Santorini on a huge catamaran. These babies get around fast! Am a little sad to be leaving Mykonos as I’ve had an amazing time there and have just gotten to know the little winding streets of Chora well enough to know exactly where I’m going.. after being constantly lost for two days! I’m in love with Cycladic architecture and the beautiful churches that are everywhere on the island. The views around every corner are breathtaking and there are a lot of good things to be said of the locals and Greek hospitality in general. I have met so many by chance and their kindness and generosity have given me a lot to think about. I think living in the city for so long makes a person cynical and I’m glad to be here, away from life I know and love, if only for a short time. And now Santorini awaits. Miss M gets there in the morning and I am super excited to be exploring this amazing place with her!

Perivolas

One of the most stunning hotels I’ve seen, the stuff dreams are made of:

Perivolas Suites, Santorini

Really don’t mind a dip in that pool right now. It’s only 9am and sweltering – we’re meant to be in the sun today for a soccer tourney. Feeling much better today after a good sleep, a strong dose of Dimetapp and a coffee. Holidays cannot come soon enough!

Maroubra Beach

Maroubra Beach

Took a drive around on Saturday to soak up some sunshine, ended up on Maroubra beach after driving around for an hour and looking at other smaller ones. I was parched by then, so I stepped into the first cafe I saw, and on the wall was a photo of Santorini. The cafe is run by a lovely Greek lady who spent some time chatting with me and she tells me the islands are beautiful.. which is good to know because I will be going there, can’t wait!

Summer lovers

A while ago I wrote a post on how I wish life were less complicated so we may have the time to enjoy it more. I guess in many ways that is the reason for this blog and its tag line ‘Life in slow motion’ though it sure didn’t start out that way ten years ago.

While researching a trip to Santorini today I found a blog that captures the essence of the very things that inspire me to enjoy life to the fullest. After reading all of Michael’s blog entries about life in Oia I am quite afraid that when I go there I may not want to return.

I can’t decide if this is a trip to make alone, with a girlfriend (or three), or with my other half – perhaps I am hoping fate will make that decision for me? We shall see.
