Luke (my lovely ex-boss) just told me about his girlfriend Jenn’s new online shop Wanderlust + Co. – she has some really cute stuff up on there! I’m going to act surprised that I came across a few things I want to pick up :)
Totally in love with this cool Balenciaga-inspired “B-Stud” toggle bracelet from the ‘Tough Love’ collection:
Perfect with my new Mid-day! I love studs, and chains, and leather, and anything remotely masculine.. tough love indeed.
Also, how cute is this H-Rope navy rope bracelet from the ‘Under Paris Skies’ collection?
And bibs!
Very reasonably priced (dangerous!) and yes they ship to Australia.. check them out :)
Also, while patiently waiting for the Season 3 finale of True Blood (where I become a fan of werewolves, if only for a running joke that I like hairy men – not true), am sorely tempted to pick up these faux fur wolf ears from TopShop and howl at the moon or something:
At 28 quid, a tad pricey, but soooo cute! And come to think of it, Joe Manganiello who plays werewolf Alcide Herveaux in True Blood is actually pretty easy on the eyes.
And speaking of chains, I how amazing is Armor Jewelry by NY-based designer Sandee Shin? Love!
Two of my favourite pieces – L: Aeon R: I.Ume. I need more reasons to go out and put these babies on!
Also really liked XVII Dellah – reminded me of something I made a while ago:
L: XVII Dellah by Armor Jewelry R: Swarovski waterfall ear cuff by me.. in 2003. I was on to something back then! I really love the concept of the asymmetrical ear ‘cuff’.. it’s such a statement piece and that’s all you really need to wear with a simple outfit.
Oh, my Ego and Greed black fang wedges have arrived and I wish I had them sooner.. in a while it will be too hot here to wear these out but they are amazing!
They were sold out at OakNYC when I first saw them, so I resorted to asking on their facebook page. I didn’t really expect to get a reply, and a few days later Oak restocked them so I bought a pair.
Here is the reply I just saw today:
Stephanie- yes you can-get a pair directly from us right away- we have a few pairs here at our offices just for people like yourself- Thanks very much- Im Geoff C- the owner n creator of Ego n Greed and i love writing to customers and people who like the shoes- i encourage feedback and input so please feel free to tell us what feelings you have about fashion going forward abit- we listen to our customers and do our very best to keep the product cool fun and yet the message is that EGO n GREED is not for the faint hearted- Thanks again. Enjoy the shoes.
New styles will be posted here within the next 5 days- and some of them are just “Over the Top”
Geof C
They do have really a cool collection. These days I prefer to shop smaller brands and support indie labels. The wedges are so comfortable. I’ve given up on wearing high heels in Sydney because I walk everywhere and these 2″ wedges are perfect!

The week is off to a great start:
1 – Finally solved that Thesis code issue that has been annoying me for two weeks. By myself. After not getting answers in forums. And I feel a little invincible for it. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
2 – Web hosts have managed to solve hosting woes, thank fuck, I’d hate to have to move after nine years and I do love these guys.
3 – Two pairs of black Chuck Taylors headed my way – YM has dubbed these my ‘emo shoes’ after watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
4 – Moving offices from Eastern suburbs to inner city this week!
5 – One of my favourite people in the world is dropping in tomorrow, très excited!
Also, this awesome xkcd comic reminded YC of me for more reasons than she will understand:
Ha. Thank you :)
I wish these were my size. They belong to the boyf. Am currently obsessed with boots – not the current knee/thigh high ones on trend right now but these combat-style ones ala Dr Martens from more than a decade ago. I had mom bring my favourite blue pair to Sydney that I bought in KL when I was 16. They’ve taken quite a beating over the years but still look pretty new. What a great investment! They have been getting plenty of wear since they got here.
Here are a few more that I am dying to have:
- Opening Ceremony Sunburst lace-up wedge
- Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Co2 wedge (I bought these instead)
- Ann Demeulemeester boots – she makes the best ones!
How awesome are they? They look great with leggings, which is a bonus for Winter. I am still trying to think of what to call them. I don’t really think ‘boots’ are politically correct for something that has a wedge, platform, and is open-toed, multi-strapped and ankle-length.. all at the same time!
These days I am more partial to flats, despite having a closet full of 4″ heels. I think it’s all the walking I need to do – Sydney pedestrian areas aren’t stiletto friendly much.. although I must say the Jeffrey Campbell boots I got are the most comfortable things ever! Maybe this will change when I start driving (Next week! Joy!) In the meantime.. Need. More. Boots.
Ahem. Bad Steph.
A few weeks ago I was trying to figure out what to do about my shoes. I sold 10 pairs on eBay and threw out a bunch but still have about 50 pairs left. The boy suggested I buy those plastic boxes he saw on some home improvement show one day. I knew these boxes existed, but at retail they were pretty pricey and I have a decent amount of shoes so that was out of the question. But it stuck, and I was pretty adamant something needed to be done so I did some research and found someone who sold exactly what I wanted, wholesale, for under $1.50. The boxes are 0.8mm polypropylene, with welded seams and a carry handle. I wanted them 0.8mm specifically for sturdiness since I plan to pile a lot of them on top of one another and I loved the tabs on the ends that made it easy to open and close. Sooo.. I placed an order.
(These pics are from my Twitter so click to view in full)
I used Moo Minicards for labels. They are fantastic, you order in boxes of 100 and each one of them can be customised with a different image. Apart from shoe box labels, you can also use them for gift/retail tags, thank you notes etc. I (thankfully) didn’t have 100 pairs of shoes so I put random pictures on the rest and handed it out to friends as little keepsakes.
And this is the final result:
It was the perfect solution: I saved a heap of space and my shoes would be easily accessible and protected from dust. And it makes my OCD happy!
But today I bought a pair of shoes.. and when I came home I realised I am stuck with the problem of not having a matching card to label the box with! ARGH. Even I’m not crazy enough to order a hundred cards every time I buy a new pair of shoes.. so perhaps it’s time to stop buying shoes :/
But I’ve been meaning to buy something like these for ages and they were on sale for $30.. from $160! Guess I’ll just have to live with one box with no label.
