Friday Five: Summer wishlist

My Friday Five picks for this week are a few items from my Summer wishlist! Finally the weather is starting to feel like the Australian Summer we know and love and I can’t wait for the upcoming holidays (I have two weeks off from work, yay!) and lots of beach time.. of course I’m still dreaming of Greece, I can’t believe it’s only been six months ago but when I go there again I would totally bring these.. perhaps I should plan a road trip in the meantime! These print shorts from Thakoon are perfection and I love, love, love this Equipment shirt, it has such a great cut and the fabric is perfect, and I have yet to own a poncho but this is such a great print and colour combo it’s hard not to fall in love with it.. What’s on your wishlist?

Thayer braid and chain bikini
Zadig et Voltaire Zoe bag
Equipment signature washed silk shirt
Thakoon pleat front shorts
Opening Ceremony x Pendelton cropped poncho

PS – I just wanted to say thank you for all your lovely comments + support for my blog, I appreciate every single one of them and I think I have the best readers. Have a great weekend! :)

Mykonos

Mykonos

Was looking through some pictures from Summer today, mostly wishing I bought a DSLR sooner, but somehow found myself yearning for some unexplainable dose of Greek. Putting on a CD with bouzouki music that Miss M and I picked up for this very reason is probably the worst idea. Ever. I know I may have wildly romantic notions about the place but the rumours are all true – there is a little bit of magic in the Aegean. I have to make my way back there soon.

By the way these pictures are unretouched in any way. Hope you enjoy! x

Thought I would start sharing some of the gadzillion images that have been sitting in my inspiration folder, except I don’t really have just one but a series of highly disorganised, haphazard collection of images from the past year or so. These are some things that have been calling out to me lately – leopard, bright nails, slouchy knits, denim shorts and lots of jewellery.. Summer where art thou?

Third image bottom left – genius way to work that yellow-khaki stripe shirt that I happen to own (from ASOS). It’s got these pockets where the stripes annoying don’t line up and I only wear it out with something thrown on top. Really love the colour combo in this one, it’s the first time I’ve seen it styled up and I wish I knew where the original image is from.

Apologies if these aren’t credited properly as they should be. I do try to find the source but it’s not easy with the vortex that is tumblr: some are from this one that seem to post random images, first image top right of the sequin Miu Miu clutch is from The Blonde Salad, second image bottom left from Hanneli.. please leave a comment if you know where they’re from or if you own them and want them credited/taken down.

Santorini

I’d seen so many pictures of Santorini from M’s blog but I didn’t realise they were mostly of Oia.. imagine my surprise when I arrived to high, imposing cliffs on a ferry I thought was big when I left Mykonos but felt quite small sailing into the port.. the smattering of white buildings clinging to the tops looked like snow from below.

Mykonos Summer 2011

Sydney weather has hit it’s lowest for the year, I think. My heart sinks a little every morning I look outside and the sky is not the brilliant blue I always expect it to be. Even then, the shadows run long and the wind bites. I’m still in a bit of a denial and I’m sure I’ve left part of myself somewhere in the Aegean.. my Winter clothes are still sitting in a box in the basement and I can’t be bothered to get them out. No wonder I’m freezing my ass off! But ironically I find Winter a little less cold each year. Perhaps I’m finally getting used to it, and perhaps it’s finally getting used to me?

It’s only July but I’m already obsessed with the coming (Australian) Summer months – planning, anticipating, day-dreaming.. it feels a little like the void a lover leaves only there’s nothing you can really do about the weather but to wait, or move with it.. and I can’t say I haven’t been tempted to especially when I have so many amazing friends around the world. Some days I wonder if this wanderlust is a curse or a blessing. I can’t seem to get Summer’s promise of sunshine and freedom out of my head..

Next stop – Tasmania. In Winter. Oh dear.
