In love!

I’m a little late to the party and have only just recently discovered Menya Mappen in the CBD. Love the simplicity of the food, the fact that it feels like lining up in a school canteen and the communal dining experience!
I had the beef udon noodles with a perfectly cooked soft boiled egg, cold soba and some tempura - it was delicious.
There is another outlet from the Menya chain, Chinatown Menya, that used to be my staple ramen fix.. until I discovered Gumshara Ramen, that is! It’s still pretty good though, I prefer the noodles at Menya, but it’s hard to go past the seriously loaded tonkotsu soup at the latter - do check out Helen’s review!
I’ve been eating a lot of Japanese food lately. There are just so many good restaurants in Sydney. If there’s one thing I miss about working in Bondi Junction it’s my favourite Japanese hole-in-the-wall on the mall called Ichiban Boshi. They do amazing ramen and this terribly indulgent Japanese curry with cheese over karaage and rice.. I feel a craving coming on! Over the weekend, W and I hit up the fish markets for cheap and delicious sashimi.. bliss!
