Friday Five: Currently Coveting

Just a bunch of things still sitting in various carts on the interwebs. Kind of loving the simplicity of these designs, particularly the Cheap Monday bracelet (also comes in a pretty rad necklace version). How perfect are the DV boots? Kind of wish they came out a bit sooner, I have been looking for a cheaper alternative to these Acne Pistol boots for ages. I’m very particular about the heel and leather so these are the first ones that ticks all the boxes for me.

And thanks to my cousin Faith I’m now obsessed with the Givenchy Pandora! It’s such a strange shape, the very first one I laid eyes on was fully stuffed with paper so I wasn’t too blown away by its cubic proportions, in fact i didn’t like it at all. I thought it just looked.. odd. but then I saw some action shots on the purse forum when it’s half-filled and I just love the way it hangs. And the more I look at it the more I want one. The pebbled leather versions are stunning, and so are the studded ones. I generally love single top-handle bags with a long strap - it’s good to have options - what do you think?

But yeah, exercising some restraint because I’m going to back to Malaysia next week for mum’s 60th.. also, looking squeezing in some shopping time! Can’t wait to drop in on my favourite shops and I can’t believe I am back here one week before the first ever H&M store in Kuala Lumpur opens..

18th Sydney Biennale

W and I dropped in on the Biennale at Cockatoo Island and Walsh Bay Pier 2/3 on the weekend to indulge my love of strange spaces. The room with the bamboo windchimes attached to the rainbow of ribbons are part of an installation by artist Tiffany Singh, called Knock On The Sky Listen To The Sound. You can take one of the windchimes home to decorate however you like, and then return it to Cockatoo Island to be reintegrated into the installation. Quite a cool idea, and a number of them are already back on the island. More details here!

I’m glad it’s getting warmer now - wearing one of my favourite dresses, the asymmetrical hem and cutout drape back on this is perfect as is the colour.. all the better to show off the tattoo I got almost 14 years ago on my best friend’s birthday.. how time flies.

Sydney Museum of Contemporary Art

We finally got round to visiting the newly refurbished Museum of Contemporary Art here in Sydney. At the moment it also houses part of the 18th Biennale of Sydney on top of their regular collection. Still not 100% sure I’m all for the cubic exterior that looks like a bunch of (beautifully) stacked blocks, but the simple industrial interior gets my vote. Something about the exposed concrete floors and stark black and white paint makes me feel quite at home. Minimalism at its best perhaps! Here are some of the installations on display; I’m so happy that these events/museums are free to the public!
