Spent some time at the beach on the weekend. It was too short a time, but I always remind myself quality > quantity. Got a little saddened by how dirty the beaches were this time of the year - or perhaps all the time - we spent some time picking up trash when we were leaving. Empty drink packages, bottles, diapers, plastic bags, Styrofoam food containers.. just about anything that was disposable was carelessly disposed of.
Someone even left this behind:
How romantic it is to find a door in the middle of a beach and wondering where it leads to.. the sad reality is it is trash, over time it breaks down and eventually these pollutants will enter and disrupt marine food chains which will in turn affect us. On days like this I am ashamed to be part of this country that is blessed with such beautiful natural resources yet contribute so little to its preservation.

Unfortunately such is the nature of the people and government our country. There seems to be much better things to do except to protect what we have until it is almost gone/destroyed.
Good to hear you helped pick up some of the garbage. We definitely need more civic conscious people like you around.
ironically there isn’t many bins available at the beaches for people to dispose their garbage at - but instead many signs that say ‘jaga kebersihan pantai kita’… ;P if everyone did their bit it will def make a difference.
