Of all Bangkok had to offer I think I enjoyed the food the most! :)
It certainly has changed a lot since I was last there in 1988.. you do the math.. hehe. Am actually looking forward to planning another trip there, this time perhaps a different city. It’s funny how you want to go to all these faraway foreign places and the best places to travel are just a stone’s throw away from here.
Took some pics :)
Chatuchak. Am impressed, spending a whole day there didn’t suffice. There is a lot of junk for sale at the markets, but if you look hard enough there is a lot of really cool stuff too. I loved that the local designers set up shop there at the weekends, there is really a lot of wonderful dresses and skirts to buy. I really liked the local artists selling paintings there, if I get a place of my own I will head there to buy some art. There are a lot of Asian styles and elements which I love.
I love the cabs! They are so colourful and cheap to get around in. Most drivers we met were honest, save for one or two who didn’t want to use their meters. Much better than Malaysian cabbies.. I took a cab just last week and he tried to rip me off going from Mid Valley to Bangsar.
Bangkok from 60 floors up is quite a sight. The dark masks the grittiness and bright lights at night always makes cities look so serene. Except the waist-high barrier wasn’t overly reassuring, especially with strong winds and six lightning conductors in sight. Barring that, Vertigo at the Banyan Tree was a really lovely, romantic bar.
Wat Po. I remember a lot temples from my last visit. Still awed at the intricacies as I remember I was when I was a kid. Except this time I have a camera!
One of my fav pics. Took this on New Year’s Day at Siam Square, amidst all the post-party mess.
Had to post this one up – very pretty packaging! Was tempted to pick one up but I don’t really drink vodka anymore.
Hope you guys are having a good start to this new year :)
