I was reading Nick Hornby’s About a Boy earlier today and noted the ‘weird’ references to The Wasp Factory - funny I never noticed it the first time I read it. I recall watching the movie (About a Boy) when it first screened and after reading the novel it was based on I’m pretty sure it had different climax.. hmm. I’ll have to wait till I get back to KL again and re-watch the movie.
Anyway I’ve just been told my login at the library computers have expired, and I’m on the guest login at the moment. Dad told me I had to start disassociating myself from my life here but it seems to be going the other way around! Oh well.. there’s Jo’s computer if I absolutely must.. but I think it shouldn’t be a problem logging in here. I’ll be back soon anyway and then you’ll have to put up with my random posts post-midnight et all (can’t be that bad..)
I’m in Queenstown at the moment and it’s so beautiful I don’t have any words to describe it really.. hopefully some of the pictures I’m posting up once I get back to Wanganui will tell you what it’s like out here.
We left Wangas on Monday, drove down to Wellington and stayed the night there and took the 9:30am ferry to Picton and drove past Kaikoura to Christchurch. The next morning we drove to Dunedin (really nice place!) and spent the day there. And tonight we’re at Queenstown.
Weather’s been pretty good. Its not too bad during the day when the sun’s out but in the evenings it does get pretty chilly. The high in Queenstown tomorrow is 2 degrees. Kinda makes you wanna hide in your room with your electric blanket but its so beautiful out here.. seriously.
One day I’m coming back here again.
We’re driving back up north tomorrow, Milton is as far south as we’re going this trip.. apparently we’re expecting polar ice winds from the antarctic tomorrow which will bring snow to Dunedin etc, where we should be tomorrow night if we don’t decide to stay for another night here in Queenstown.
The mountains are looking pretty good at the moment, most of them are still not covered in snow yet but a few ski fields are open where the snow is and Mt. Cook looks just amazing.. in fact the entire southern alps looks amazing at the moment.
God, the mountains.. wish you were here!
