You know it’s true…

…I’d rather spend my money on shoes.

And old acquaintance rang me up recently, haven’t spoken to him in years. After the conversation, I remembered why!

Him: How have you been? Are you still in NZ? (he’s called my Malaysian mobile)
Me: No, I’m in KL, you just rang my Maxis dude
Him: Oh yeah! (laughs)
Me: I’m OK lah, working now, in media, you?
Him: I just got a promotion, I’m the youngest partner in my law firm
Me: I never realised you were a lawyer
Him: Yeah, and I’m getting paid 120 grand a year!
Me: Oh, that’s great, good for you (full concentration back on the magazine cover I’m working on)

[boring bit where he goes on about himself for two minutes]

Him: Want to have dinner next Friday?
Me: Oh, I’m really busy, end of the year and all that, I’ll let you know lah
Him: Okay. Let’s go to Third Floor, long time never go already. Not too expensive for you right? (WTF!)
Me: Third Floor is so overrated lah, seriously, I’d rather spend my money on shoes. I have to get back to work, catch up with you soon, bye.
Him: Okay babe, I will call you next week.

If he ever calls me I am going to feign amnesia.

My right wrist has been hurting for the past three months. Goes a bit numb after a couple of hours on the mouse and there is progressive muscle strain all the way up to my forearm. Currently feels bruised.. suspected carpal tunnel syndrome. Mom’s been telling me that I literally spend half my day with my right hand on a mouse, even when I get home from work. Sadly, it’s true, but for as long as I can remember when I wake up I have to ‘crack’ my wrist otherwise it feels funny, so it could also be an inflamed joint or ligament because I haven’t cracked it recently. Been meaning to get it checked out but have been procrastinating.. I guess I should make it a point to get it sorted before Christmas.. urgh.

Someone said that to me recently and I thought it was really funny. That’s terrible advice in this context; it was originally meant as something else.

Bought a new pair of sandals today. Okay, two pairs. Was window shopping eBay to check out new footwear trends (really!) and fell in love with a pair of bejewelled Jimmy Choo sandals. Then I realised that I didn’t have any dressy sandals at all, thanks to my life-long stiletto obsession (but I have since come to terms with my height.. LOL!). Then I went to lunch, and saw this pair of Birkenstock-like bejewelled Nine West sandals but they didn’t have my size. So I snapped these up. Coincidentally I had matching nail-polish on which probably sealed the deal. They look nothing like the Choos I saw, but what the heck….

All I want for Christmas is a walk-in shoe closet

These are the 7th pair of shoes I bought this month. There were those slouchy suede boots and faux snakeskin stilettos from Hong Kong, three pairs of pumps at the FJB sale and two pairs of sandals today. I also bought suede peeptoe wedges in Melbourne last month and this pair of beaded Richard Tyler stilettos from eBay. I need to impose a shoe ban in December! Maybe Lynn‘s right, we’re hopeless.. she bought shoes without even being in the country, beat that! I might have to take Steve up on his offer to house my shoes in Melbourne.. ohnoes.

Geek rant

Been semi-raiding again. Got the priest to 60 at long last, motivated by a bunch of ZG loots that I got defaulted at 58.. including epic robes! Respecced to healing spec. Dead broke. Now for attunements and whatnot, but have been a bit lazy. Seem to be the only active rogue in the guild at the moment after leaving Thundermare and going back to WDK, so have been mainly on her. Need to save money for Christmas and New Years’ so putting some money towards my WoW account fees is a great idea. Was bored with the game for awhile so I let my account lapse when I was in Australia. Previous guild was falling apart (internal conflict) so our raids have been quite shitty. From getting to Twin Emps to not even being able to take Nefarian down, partly due to core players taking a break before Burning Crusade releases. Guess I will never get my Bloodfang Chest at this rate. Back to 20mans, including Onyxia, which was really fun because there was no room for errors. On first try we 17-manned Ony to 1%.. bit of a WTF situation at the end, but fun :) Better than spending Sat night partying I suppose.. don’t use that against me.
