Lunch

I spent lunch today with Anthony Bourdain. Ordered a lunch special of pacific clam congee at Chopstick Noodle House before digging in to Bourdain’s rant on the finer points of traditional French cooking before I realised the mistake of my ways: his novel, almost obsessive commentary on food is not to be taken with a heavy dose of commercial congee drowned in soy sauce, pacific clams or not. I am obsessed with him, not because I have tasted his cooking, but because of his obvious great love of food. Perhaps I seek to live vicariously through his notes - Le Bernardin will not be imparting any press treatments on me - because I truly believe there is no sincerer love than the love of food and who best to describe it than someone who loves it as much as life itself? That is such a turn on. Women who love food make fantastic friends, but men who love food I find extremely intriguing. It is about as universally ‘something in common’ anyone can have. I’m not even talking gourmet. I was brought on a sensual vocabulary-infused journey from old school France to Brazil, each and every flavour lovingly translated into ‘chef-porn’ all the while having reality slap me in the face with each bite I took. The way he described old-style German gastronomy strangely reminded me of the time I shared a very sensual Godiva kiss with someone. I asked myself if I could leave the life I know here tomorrow just to travel, work and eat my way across the world. I could. Isn’t that a scary thing to know about oneself when one has bigger things in the picture, like commitments? Bah.

What I’ve been up to over the weekend

Busy being a geek adventuring in Outlands. Love the new scenery. Haven’t had time to play with my mods and UI yet since the expansion. Managed to tweak Stunwatch to work with BC. This build does nice damage as far as I can see but I don’t have Damage Meters or SW Stats up yet so it’s hard to tell. And I miss my macros. Will make it a point to find all my mods next weekend. I need Energy Watch back desperately! One bar from 65. One! But I need to sleep :/

Someone landed on top of me in Terrokar Forest today with a flying mount and said “Do you know Bergkamp?” Roy, what have you been saying about me?!

In other not-so-happy news, grandma had a fall on Friday afternoon while I was out. It was raining and my cousins asked for umbrellas, and I don’t know why but she went out in the rain with two, slipped and fell. Four stitches at the back of her head. So I didn’t go for Jimi’s wedding on Sunday after all, kept a an eye on her while the others went out to run errands, etc. Some times it is hard to remember she’s 81. She’s recovering fine though. Up and about today. Thank God she didn’t break something.. it would be very hard to recover from broken bones at that age.

More weddings…

I’ve got a wedding this weekend. If you read my blog back in 2003 will remember my house mate Gmee in NZ. He’s getting hitched to his gorgeous fiancee Irene this Sunday. Talk about big scale, the RSVP is done via an SMS provider.. hehe. Am a bit blur about the dress code which reads ‘baju melayu’ because I’ve got absolutely nothing to wear. Have never gone to a malay wedding with that dress code, so am counting on Karen to come to my rescue! Do they give money at malay weddings? Any one has any clue what the protocols are in terms of wedding gifts etc? HALP!

Burning Crusade and my rogue

The long awaited expansion pack is finally out! Reloaded my account tonight to check out what’s going on in Tichondrius. About 40 people are Level 61 already. Spent my time in AV collecting the 3 more tokens I needed.. I now have a Red Skeletal Mount for my rogue as well as the HWL dagger. I know I said I wanted the MH sword but have been doing some serious thinking and will be sticking to a dagger rogue for now. Been testing out my new Assassination spec; Mutilate is so much fun! Assassination build lacks the crazy survivability of the Subtlety spec (Cheat Death, Cloak of Shadows - but now the 41pt skill in that tree is now ShadowStep, Enveloping Shadows, Heightened Senses, Elusiveness etc) but I find it a much more balanced build.. sure Combat will always be a stronger overall PvE build but these days I PvP a little. Imp Backstab has been switched over to the Assassination tree to replace Imp S&D. I now have Cold Blood again (I leveled with an CB-Prep spec) which is really fun to use with Mutilate because both attacks land as crits. And Lethality affects Mutilate as well, so its doing 230% base damage with CB.

CS-CB-Mutilate-KS-Mutilate-Tea-Mutilate-Evis… mwahahaha. Die!!

I have a ton of Thistle Tea and Blinding Powder to spare thanks to Bends.. <3

The thing I miss about my old Combat spec is my crazy crit chance. But I suppose CB somewhat makes up for it.. the insanely fast CP generation from Seal Fate is great though. I find I often have to decide between blowing 4CP on Evis, or wasting 1CP if I throw in another Mutilate. But in zerg PvP that doesn’t really matter I guess! The 10% damage increase from Find Weakness in long fights with S&D (no more Imp S&D) thrown in should be pretty decent energy investment. Haven’t had a chance to PvE with it yet, and I’m too tired to calculate. But now I’m wondering if the 3 talent points I put in Imp BS is worth it at all, since Mutilate almost replaces that skill entirely. I almost always use poisons anyway. Eventually I will fine-tune my spec, but for now I’m just going to enjoy running around with my new horse and mutilating people from behind.

Remember, rogues do it from behind.
