February 2009

It has been a great 2 weeks or so being back in KL. Not sure what the initial apprehension was all about - perhaps it’s kind of like the first date follow up jitters, where the first few minutes are awkward before you are reminded why there is a follow up. Anyway, as expected, it is a tad hard to leave the comforts of home once again, for another place I must think of as home also.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and thanks to the people who’ve made time to catch up with me. As always, it is great seeing all you guys!

Looking forward to T and J coming over in a mere couple of weeks. There are SO MANY THINGS I want to show you guys!

Oh - by the way the kayu nasi kandar last night was a fabulous finale to my eating spree. Must get back to the gym again, now I have a very big bet riding on my (currently awol) ability to shed off the kilos. If things go well I will finally get to go to Rio, fully sponsored! Talk about motivation.

Must get packing!

KL

I left Sydney in a rush. Last minute packing, frantic calls to my front desk from the train, long harried queues at the airport and an even longer, terribly agonising flight with 7.5 hours worth of spoilt 2 and 4 year olds crying. I don’t understand the horrid mother making no efforts to shut her children up while the rest of us in economy class grit our teeth in an effort not to knock them all out cold. Seriously, no one appreciates screaming wailing kids that go on from takeoff to landing. WTF.

It is strange being back. Even stranger that until today I wish I didn’t have to make this trip and leave what I now know as home just when I’ve started getting used to my new routine. But I miss the fam. Tres confusing. It’s different this time. Maybe because of the permanence of it. Maybe because I really dig the new place. Maybe because things change too often and sometimes.. not at all. Anyway it’s good to be back.

Today I jumped into my car for the first time in eight months. It feels like I’ve never left.

Street piano near Market City

What an awesome idea: Street Pianos. And this guy I caught two weekends ago was GOOD. Meant to go street piano hunting during the Sydney Festival but got too caught up in other exciting stuff so this was the only one I saw. Spent last weekend bumming on the beach and finally went in the 18c water! It was cold, but very nice in the 38c heat.. what a contrast of temperatures..

Expecting > 40c weekends, not sure if I should be happy or not since I love the heat but it really is getting a tad too hot. Never thought I’d say that but I don’t have air-conditioning at home..
