Absolutely in love with Jen Kao SS11 - what an amazing combination of colour and texture.. and to have a catwalk made of patterned sand! Sigh :) I am in love with the whole collection, especially this gorgeous spectre’s skirt:
An impromptu sunshiney lunch at Velero turned into night, too many jugs of sangria and wine and 8 hours of conversation.. and it didn’t end there! But at least I remembered to take pictures of the food..
From top - deep fried cuttlefish, eggplant, zucchini flowers with lemon and aioli; seared scallops with piquillo peppers, bacaloa and black olives; mussels with saffron, tomato and parsley; roast portobello mushrooms with chilli crumbs, garlic herbs and manchego; fried potatoes with salsa picante and aioli!
I came across them when I was looking for a chrome silver polish (which sadly doesn’t exist) but Minx does them in a wrap style. The plain chrome silver ones were more expensive than the snow cheetah (pictured) so I thought I’d pick these up cheap from eBay and give them a go. They are really easy to apply despite the ‘professional use only’ label - I did them myself at home in ten minutes and all you need is a heat source (I used a fan heater) to ‘melt’ the special glue before you stick them on and stretch them over the curve of your nail. The excess is simply filed off and being wraps they required no drying time and no damage to your nails at all when you take them off - bonus!
If you prefer not do try them on your own, there are a handful of salons around Australia that do them. They’re listed in the salon finder on the Minx website.
In a little laneway in the heart of East Sydney lies this amazing little wine bar, Love Tilly Devine - caught up with Ray and Julie for dinner there last week and loved it.. it’s more of a wine bar than a restaurant so don’t expect a substantial food menu. The oysters were fabulous and I really loved the proscuitto with figs and gorgeous buffalo mozzarella.
We’ve been wanting to go to Italian institution Beppi’s for as long as I can remember. Today we finally made it there!
Dinner was good; the food was not overly fancy, just great classic seasonal flavours on a plate!
