Where in the World?

Monday, November 29th, 2004

I haven’t done a quiz in ages, so here’s one:

Take the quiz: “Which American City Are You?”

Las Vegas
You Shine bright and partake in all the vices. You’d rather burn out then fade away.

Which is kind of incidental, as I’m looking for places to visit. It’s not even the end of 2004 yet, and I am already itching to haul my ass onto another continent, or any country or city that I have not visited before. Am not sure if it will be an island or a city, but not both because I don’t have the time or money. And I should start planning my leave soon, too.

Islands:
Galapagos Islands
Hawaii
Sicily

Cities:
Amsterdam
Venice
Hong Kong*
Sydney*
Shanghai*

Current options, if you have any really cool suggestions, drop me a line. It’s going to be a short trip, so nothing as ambitious as Morocco-Portugal-Spain (which was what sparked this thing) please

Objectives: Just checking out the place, no shopping or tours intended. If I fall back on a place I’ve already been to before, then I will shop.. mwahahhaha.

And guess what my chinese horoscope says for next year:

Celebrate every joyous occasion you meet throughout 2005 because there’s a saying that “a celebration can resolve nine disasters”.

Woo, party on! I should start practising this year. Har har.

Another good news: Q has saved this site. I’ll be here to bug you for another year! Yay!!

OK bye.

Pictures

Been meaning to post up some pictures from the past weekends. Might as well, since I’m still at work not knowing what I’m doing anymore. Heh heh.

Eleana and I at Zeta

Jules and Q smirking

At someone’s private party at the Loft. I crashed. The mad dancing with shoes off was fun.

So was the free food. Yum!

Atlas Shrugged

To say Ayn Rand has gripped me by the balls with the sheer force of her theories would not be entirely politically incorrect — but she’s not the reason I’m still up.

Work.

Does.

Suck.

(..a little, sometimes, and especially at this hour)

But I think I must be mad because I’m going to head home and read more Ayn Rand before I sleep. And get back into the office early enough not to miss my morning deadlines. AND on top of that, summon enough energy to attend the Looque/Elite Models launch before running off to the new Bliss opening night.

It doesn’t end right there, either, because Ayn Rand is not going to let me sleep, not even after a few champagnes and lychee martinis.. because she’s got me by the balls and I strangely want more.

Risk

Wednesday, November 17th, 2004

Strategy boardgames are not entirely new to me but Risk is one that I have avoided playing until Sunday night at Julian’s — three days (and many games) later, I’m hooked. I have been playing shareware variants of Risk since Sunday so someone needs to battle me off this computer before I forget I have a job and a life somewhere.. but damn, I just can’t leave the game alone

Yes, World Domination is on my list.. mwahhahaha..

But first, a congratulations to my dear friend Joe on his marriage! Be assured #bangsar will be represented this weekend.. hehe!

Finally, a moment to breathe.

Work has been overly stressful this past week, and trying to find time and space to think has been almost impossible. I find myself no longer enjoying what I do, but instead I do my work because it needs to be done.. and I’m working with ridiculously tight deadlines. Also, having a dinosaur of a machine to work on isn’t helping reduce my stress levels and on Wednesday I actually snapped at a colleague — a first. Sigh.

On Wednesday night, I checked out Mambo Jambo at Zouk, which, much to my disappointment was too packd to be any fun at all. My bucket of Heineken took 30 minutes to arrive, and by then I’ve already decided that the party sucked a little. But it was also a colleague’s birthday and we got her so smashed that we had to carry her out of the place. That part was fun, because she’s an absolute darling.

Tonight, I think I will go check out some new places in town.. I haven’t been out for ages!

And all that

The holidays are just around the corner. If I don’t remember to post by then, I’d like to wish you guys a Happy Deepavali and Selamat Hari Raya!

I have given up trying to make time to write out a proper post, and many many emails are owed. Sorry.. yesterday turned out to be an 18-hour work day for me.

I open my ‘Add A New Entry’ page every morning only to have to close it at the end of the day.. I usually get as far as a couple of opening sentences and it’s bloody frustrating coming back to my desk and not remembering what it was leading to.

Things will be back to normal by tomorrow.

Friday Fives

Friday, November 5th, 2004

Five reasons why I haven’t been posting:

1. Dina Zaman: Gongkapas Times
2. Femme: Note to Self
3. Miss Tasha: Unspecified Reasons
4. Joe. My. God.
5. Geekslut

Warning: Contains explicit language and graphic descriptions.. not that they’re any less interesting without.
