08/11/2023 Entry: "Roadtrip, mindtrip."

Roadtrip, mindtrip.

Yesterday we rented a van and drove up to Palmerston North, which is a bigger town about 45 minutes from Wanganui. We booked a go kart session at an indoor track and went to Davis Trading, which is a specialtist grocer, and stocked up on our asian foodstuff. It's the only place near Wanganui that sells asian spices and other imports - authentic Adabi curry powder from Malaysia! Hehe..

Lunch was at Khmer, which consisted of Tom Yam rice noodles and orange juice, before the group split up and went our ways. We (Sal, Dona, Jimi, Wan and Pian) went walking around the main street for a good 2 hours. I bought a pair of blue Nike Havocs on sale for NZ 99.. something I've been wanting to buy for some time now.. and it was the only one left in that color and my size.. fate!

We went to TimeZone and took some sticker pictures, walked around somemore and went to the track. Go Karting is really fun.. I managed to come in second last - hiaks. Can't say I was that bad though, it took me a couple of laps to get used to it and I got better towards the end. Definately want to try it again soon. I went home with black streaks around my eyes where the helmet didn't cover - probably from all the engine emissions. All of us had black stains on our faces and my hands were really dirty too..

At night we went to the Saddle, but there was a function there and we waited outside for ages, till we decided to give up and go to vapour instead. I saw Brendan, our school technician, dancing away as well as bunch of other students from my school. It was pretty fun, but we were so stressed out waiting outside the Saddle that I bought 2 triple screwdrivers and downed them at the bar.

Vodka is definately a stress reliever, heh. One more triple and I was starting to really enjoy myself. No, I don't need alcohol to have a good night, but I was seriously stressed out last night. We were there till they closed at 3am, and there were still tons of people around.

Spent the whole of today being lazy and cooking mediterranean meatballs which turned out really good. The trick to making the meatballs really soft is to add one egg to the meat and dropping it straight into the sauce. I used to fry the meatballs before adding them to the sauce and it always turned out dry. Yay, me. I'm turning out to be quite a good cook (if I may say so myself..) which is rather surprising because I never thought I could cook well. I made a chicken curry two nights ago which everyone agreed was pretty good. I have alot of patience when it comes to food preparation.. dunno why.

It's gonna be midnight soon and I'm at the lab. I've been here for the past 5 hours doing my work and I'm finally done. Now to get back home and have a good sleep because class starts at 8am tomorrow. Blah. I hope you had a good weekend!
