08/19/2003 Entry: "Silver Screen Tango"
I know I haven't posted in yonks. I know, I know.. I wanted to though, I thought about posting, I dreamt about posting, but I couldn't. OK, I made that last bit up. I was just busy.. very very busy. Today I decided to stay in and chill to Greg's Dillinja CD and type out most of what's been on my mind.. and what I've been up to!
In short, I've just been watching ALOT of movies. It started with Finding Nemo on Tuesday with Nik, Bad Boys 2 with Dennis on Wednesday and the Starlight Cinema event for the rest of it. Finding Nemo is hilariously funny. I almost died laughing about 56 times and probably would've choked on the popcorn if there was some. Bad Boys 2 wasn't too bad either.. alot of scenes were exaggerated but hey, its Hollywood.
I went to the Pirates of the Caribbean premiere at the Starlight Cinema on Thursday night with Justin. It was pretty damned good. For those of you who are not in KL, the Starlight Cinema is an outdoor cinema festival where they screen a bunch of movies for a certain period of time in an open space and you bring your mats and picnic basket etc and watch the movie. I love the concept. Eleana was supposed to go with me to the premiere but she was on night shift that week so I got an extra ticket. My other friends were there as well, and there was booze. It was raining that first night so everyone was huddled under umbrellas and Nik got himself completely wet but we had fun. There was actually lightning and thunder too, which added to the atmosphere because there were some scenes with lots of sea water and everyone was getting wet, LOL.
I was back there again on Friday night for X-Men 2, Saturday night for How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Sunday night for the Club Nokia screening of 2 Fast 2 Furious, thanks to Nik. Now he wants me to go tomorrow night for The Eye, a Cantonese supernatural thriller which I really do not want to watch because I freak out really bad at these sort of visuals. I'm still undecided, but it does clash with my Cardio Dance class - they both start at 8pm.
This movie marathon thing doesn't stop here. This morning I stayed in and watched Dance With Me and A League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Connery is as hot as ever, I swear he only gets better with age) and I'm taking mom to Starlight on Thursday if she doesn't work late. I think Goldmember is showing. The one I really don't want to miss is LOTR 1 & 2 back to back because I haven't seen the second one but it's six hours of movie time! Mad, I tell ya.
Other than movies, it's just been clubs, drinking, eating and a little bit of work thrown in somewhere in between all that. Oh, and I went to the gym for a proper workout with Lynn on Wednesday. It was all fun until I woke up the next day.. I was aching like mad all over. Of course I'm fully recovered now but I suspect I might be a tad masochistic because in a strange way I actually appreciate the pain.. which is why I went to a gym today and am going again tomorrow. Yeah, bring it on. Dammit. I'm completely out of shape.
Sigh. It's the love hate thing I have with Malaysian food. Eat and get fat, don't eat crave like mad.. Grr! I usually give in.
I miss NZ. Traffic here is driving me up the wall.. and the fact that it's also been raining like mad doesn't help any! I think the thing I miss most about NZ is the laid back lifestyle and the underground parties.. not forgetting the Tuis and my friends, of course.
Oh by the way, if you're interested in what the KL club scene has been like, check out these two friends of mine, Qcumber and Nik. They're both party animals and Nik probably parties harder than anyone I know (apart from my girls, of course!) There are literally thousands of pictures in those two sites combined and I'm now waiting for Q to upload the pictures I took with a transvestite podium dancer who looks suspiciously like Paula Malai Ali (PMA is a local Malaysian celeb) last Saturday. I ended up there after the movies with the girls and some of the party animals I know.. we decided not to go to the Salem event in Genting.. it's a very long story.
Speaking of clubbing scenes and the entertainment like, the free mags that are out here are getting so much better. I personally like Juice and Rush, one's a pretty solid clubbing mag and the other's more like half a lifestyle mag. I say half because the content's still not as good as the ones you pay for but its free and no, I'm not complaining. Sure beats NZ freebies though, but the NZ ones are not commercial so they barely have the funds to come up with things like Rush.
I don't party as much as I used to. Fact.
Tiffany just left for Canada today. I didn't get to catch her before she left but we did hang out, and on Friday we decided to do the tourist thing and visit the National Science Centre.. but it was closed so we went back on Saturday morning decked out in full tourist gear, backpack, camera and all. It was completely fun because it's one of those things you won't usually do. I have some pictures to post.. when I finally buy a laptop. This iMac is so damn slow that I am typing this offline because checking my e-mail, listening to Dillinja and typing this out in Note Pad actually slows the system down so bad I feel like decking it. I have a shitload of site maintenance to do as well, I know - most of my links are dead, Justin's thinks that's just not right and at the moment I agree.
