10/05/2024 Entry: "Weekend on the coast"

I stepped out into the sun expecting the world to warm up as I was, but boy was I wrong. My weekend away at the coast turned out to be nothing more than a couple of tanning sessions by the pool/beach and midnight runs to the nearest phone booth. Well, it wasn't that bad but honestly, that was all I saw of it. Kirra is not the kind of beach you'd go to if you wanna party hearty.. hell, it's about 30 minutes from the nearest patronable watering hole. I can complain and bitch for the next couple of paragraphs but I won't. I am thankful I am lucky enough to see the sun, and of course, I managed to get a tan. And get myself picked up by a chick wearing the same Roxy bikini.. what an odd coincidence. She rubbed suntan oil into my shoulder blades.

That's the only picture I took of my weekend. Today was better. I went to the city and met up with Phuong, who in my opinion is one of the nicest girls I've met in a long time. I also somehow landed myself in the midst of Queensland Fashion Festival.. part of the Aussie Fashion Awards thing. My cousin Jun has cancer and I just went along to help them sell charity bandannas for $2 and to gape at hunky male models.. only to find that 99% were female. I took some pics:

Pretty self-explanatory. I'm headed to NZ on Tuesday. Feeling very apprehensive about the whole thing, especially when I just got an e-mail from Davy-boy with no text and what suspiciously resembles a webcam capture of himself - perhaps to remind me he's turning another year older this weekend and I should be back in time for the booze? I'm tempted to post his 'hello, world!' attempt here but he'd skin me alive if he found out and he's thrown me over his shoulders like a sack of potatoes a couple of times for disobedience so I won't.

I have too many things unsettled, left overs from post-graduation enthusiasm which didn't last the 6 months it should. This mental aggression vs. progression thing isn't working in the least - and reading William Gibson's Pattern Recognition isn't helping me uncomplicate things any better. It's a rather intriguing change from his usual themes but I'm digesting it with a melancholic mindset and it's making me dig deeper than usual.

Missing Nik isn't lifting this cloud, either.

Don't think too much, Steph .. paralysis via analysis can be a bad thing. I know first hand. :)

And what a co-incidence, I wear Roxy bikinis too!
