Idle thoughts

I want one of these hybrid bunny headphone things. I'll look like a total prat walking around with them on, but that's the whole point.

Among the things I have amassed over the week are (in no particular order) - a cold, fever and a cough, no shoes in sight (dammit), a $400 cell phone bill, an infatuation with Captain Jack Aubrey and a mild toothache that won't go away.

Despite my bewilderment at the sorry state of affairs, I continue pushing my own limits until I am too exhausted to pursue my usual habits.. which in turn, coupled with the drugs I am taking to keep my cold at bay and the toothache that won't go away, gives me mood swings so severe that even the neighbour's daughter's cat is staying away.

I like how the word 'decadence' conjures images of rich Christmas puddings, ostentatious Victorian gowns and the Versace Hotel, but it actually means 'A process, condition, or period of deterioration or decline, as in morals or art; decay.' The word 'decay', however, brings to mind rotten teeth and decomposing bodies.

Were I to rewrite the dictionary definition for 'Decadence', this would've been the result:
