On a semi-permanent DND mode
I have given up trying to explain to people why I'm always too busy to meet up. My answers always vary between A. It's closing week, B. I have massive slew of deadlines and C. I'm too tired. Apologies if I sound like a broken record but for the sake of not being deleted from everyones phonebooks etc etc: A & B: Being responsible for 9-10 magazines a month means there are editorial and design deadlines every day and it gets ridiculous towards closing day. Given that we work an average of 22 days every month, there is on average one magazine closing every 2-3 days. And meeting those deadlines (or trying to) usually means working late nights. Sure, I don't have to lay out every magazine (we are a team of 6 amazing designers, if I may say so myself) but I am responsible for anything that fucks up visually. And working in print means if something fucks up there is no hitting Apple-Z and there will be 300,000 thousand other people bearing witness to your lack of scrutiny. So really, when I say I'm busy I really mean it. It's not because I'm avoiding you. C: Reasons A & B usually leaves me just about crawling out of the office door by close Friday (if I don't have to work on Saturday which incidently I do this weekend) into my car, back home and into bed. And I stay there for the whole weekend otherwise come Monday I will be one cranky bitch. And I have to endure myself for the rest of the week. It's something even Starbucks can't fix (oh how I wish coffee, cigarettes and chocolate can solve everything). I am also A. Not married to my job, B. Not a workaholic and C. Not insane. So it's rather ironic I'm obsessed with a game that I have no time for.

i still have people calling me up at 4pm asking, "where are you eh?" or worse - "what are you doing?" and if i tell them i'm busy, "you're always busy. why are you always busy?" later at 7pm, "how come you're still at the office? how come you got work? It's after working hours already what!" Seriously, i wish they WOULD erase me from their phonebook.
