J&ANS / Logo Mania

This J&ANs top is one of my first designer purchases, ever. It was around the late 90s where logo mania was in full effect, wearing something with a logo means you were instantly in a gang of sorts. Malaysia (where I grew up) got it’s first D&G standalone store when luxury mall Starhill Gallery opened in 1996 and it kicked off a designer craze, along with Armani, DKNY and Calvin Klein - among the more popular brands back then - where previously it was all about street brands like Vision Street Wear and Stussy.. not really ashamed to say I had those too!

Inspired to wear this out again as 90s trends have resurfaced on the runway (thanks Alexander Wang!). I guess that trend had to come around again sooner or later. Remarkably this tee is still mostly intact (I had two others which has long since made a status decline into the “sleepwear” category). It has long since lost it’s original long sleeves but I think I like it much better this way - tucked into a pair of faux leather bermudas which I love to bits. This tucked-in high-waist thing is not really me though, looking at the pictures now I think it would feel a bit more casual not tucked-in, but moving on..

What do you think of the logo trend?

Thanks Mica - It’s been a really busy one for me! Hope your week is going well! x

It’s funny, a friend and I were talking about the fashion crazes of the 90’s too. I’ve noticed that Fendi particularly are going back to some old designs (the bagette bag) and giving them revamps. So much from that era seems to be coming back so it’s lucky you kept some things.

I really love your look and agree with Mica. The shirt looks rather cool tucked in but I get what you mean. Got to go with how you feel. I often look at my photo’s too and think of ways I prefer looks or ways to change them. It’s a bonus of blogging :)

    Enjoy your weekend.

Yeah, unfortunately I haven’t had many things survive the 90s! I do have a baguette though, Fendi hasn’t really moved too far from their signature logo prints for those so it dates really well!

  • MiliR

Man oh man, a t-shirt from the 90s? Practically vintage! Personally I like it tucked in, but I agree, it would look more casual untucked. Either way, you’re working it!!

Haha thanks. I know, it really is from the 90s. I think I’ve just given away my age (lol)

Simply gorgeous! Love the tee from the 90’s. I might have something like this hidden in one of my closets. hehe I was never a fan of huge logo stamps, but this is different, and I love it.

I love that you still have this! I have so many clothes that I have never thrown away because they have too much sentimental value, and it’s so great when you finally feel it’s right to dig them out & wear them again. It definitely looks better without the sleeves, but I have to disagree about the tucking, I LOVE it tucked in! :) I think that’s one of the great things about blogging though, it’s amazing how many times I’ve put something on, only to look back at the photos & think ‘that really doesn’t look as nice as I thought it did!’… It’s definitely helped me to work out what suits me & feels like me & what doesn’t :)

I’m so jealous! I had to part with most moving to Sydney which is great because it forced me to do an edit.. but I wish I had access to more old stuff back home! ;)

  • sonia de macedo

Hahaha that is so awesome, most of my stuff is long gone, which I am slowly kicking myself now. Though most of my 90’s gear consisted of band tops more than logo ones. And definitely not designer LOL! Your post reminds me of something I just pinned on Pinterest too!

Oh I wish I had band tops, mine were mostly skateboarding tees and a few designer ones I managed to save up for. I was a late (music) bloomer!

  • Sue

It looks good tucked in but I think you just feel more comfortable untucked. It’s one of those weird things, if you’re not used to it, it doesn’t feel right. I like the way you’ve worn it as the tucking in really shows off the cute shorts.

Oh and all the branding from the 90’s - I remember it well. I also remember I couldn’t afford any of it. Too busy buying a house :o(

    • http://www.absolutely-fuzzy.com Stephanie

Lucky girl! A house!? I wish I had the $ to buy a house in the 90s, I’d be all cashed up now!

  • Carly

SO cool that this t-shirt is actually from the 90’s. That makes the outfit 10x cooler than it already is xx

You look great and have really pretty eyes!

Hope you’re having a good day,

(Yes, but tucked in, your figure is more well-shaped! I like it that way!) Gorgeous, your outfit is perfect, you look simply beautiful. I have some T-shirts like this one of yours and I’m totally greatful about the 90’s comeback!
