Perfect Summer shirt

I read some articles recently about how successful people have multiples of the same thing in their closet so they don’t have to spend time thinking of what to wear in the mornings. While I’m no Zuckerberg, I like efficiency and I think it makes a lot of sense to have some serious staples that you can just grab and go on a particularly busy morning. I’ve been thinking about this a lot as creatives often have a loose dress code which actually makes getting dressed a more complicated process. When there are no set restrictions, your options are almost endless. I’d say there is at least one morning a week where I find myself staring at my wardrobe for fifteen minutes wondering what to wear. Fifteen minutes better spent doing just about anything else considering how unproductive staring can actually be… especially before my morning coffee!

So after some deliberation I’ve decided that 5 copies of the same thing is a little bit extreme but it doesn’t hurt to have a fallback outfit that you can always rely on when you can’t get dressed fast enough. This shirt is now part of my fallback outfit - a classic white shirt and skinny jeans combo is something that always looks good. This cotton lawn is such a beautifully light fabric too, and I really like the cut. Here, styled casually (and not for work), with what we call thongs and everyone else calls flip-flops… hope you guys are having a good December!

I’ve read that same article I’m sure! Interesting read :) I think having a uniform would be easier in a way, but also a lot more boring. Wonderful time saver on those “I don’t know what to wear” days though! :)
When they relax the dress rules for the office over the summer months when there are heatwaves, it becomes even harder trying to figure out what to wear - so many choices! Not that the usual rules are particularly restrictive, haha.

actually that does make a lot of sense!

I really love this shirt and I really like the concept of making getting dressed more efficient, but I think it’s harder to do as you said, when you are a creative or also just really into fashion. Still, in terms of fashion, a minimal wardrobe works quite well if you are into very minimalist style because then you only need a few basics and instead of having 5 of the same thing, you have 5 things that can be mixed and matched effortlessly.

I have the same cotton lawn shirt but I went with the “dusk” colour way. I’ve not worn it yet as I’m waiting for warmer temperatures where I can wear it pretty much as you have said with a pair of skinny jeans and you’re good to go. But it is lovely soft and it’s such a nice relaxed fit - perfect for warm temperatures. And I just spotted the Longchamp with the strap - love! <3

I had one of those mornings today. That was 15 minutes I could have had extra sleep time if you think about it. Nothing beats a good basic, something classic that you know how to werk and that you know never fails to look crappy on you either. Ahh bless those pieces. The more the merrier though I think you’d need to draw a line at some point. Three or five maybe? One in every colour works too no?

Always good to have the same staple but in different colours, that way it’s not too similar but still easy dressing :)

Absolutely perfect! If only I could reconcile myself with ironing. I just bought a perfect pair of black pants and a crepe white tee and already want it on multiples. My tastes have tempered a little and are closer to meeting your chic tastes. My other staples are silk tees and sheer shirts in black and white if you can get it….still searching for a white one after turning my last a strange grey blue color in the wash.

I’ve been contemplating purchasing a second pair of the same pair of pants, but felt kind of weird about it. But hey, if it’s a sign of efficiency, maybe that’s just the push I need! You look so effortless here :)
