The “New” Year

This time of the year I would usually be on holiday celebrating the Chinese New Year in Malaysia. Being an ‘orphan’ in Sydney I really miss my family reunion dinner, a tradition where everyone would get together on the eve of the new year to have a feast and where single people collect little red packets of money from married family and friends (what an awesome tradition!). It is less lucrative the older I get, but there is usually a lot of casual gambling going on and I’m quite lucky mostly making enough every year to buy a new pair of shoes.

On the first day of my new year here I had caught up with a dear friend of mine, Dr G, at a new Malaysian restaurant that just opened in the city. The year of the Dragon is usually a very auspicious year for most, so I hope you have an amazing Year of the Dragon ahead! x

Zara jacket, ASOS leather shorts.

Happy New Year darling! My family lives far away on the other side of the world while I am in Australia and I know how it feels xx Hey but at least you can go shopping for shoes and clothes on the Chinese New Year here, remembering the ‘dead’ streets when everything is closed, all you can get is mandarins and red pockets :)

Thanks sweetie, these days I shop online mostly. There is a tradition that on the first day of the new year you wear new clothes, as if we all needed more excuses to shop :) x

Oh babe we have the same tradition in Russia, so I know what you mean! My husband said it was just another one of my excuses to get a new dress hehe
